Doomed To Repeat It
More of a simple prototype than an actual game, but my entry to the GMTK 2025.
Idea is of a little simulation of a democratic revolution against a king, giving the player the ability to organize against the king ( Press X, increasing support for democracy) or protest against the king (Press Z, decreasing support for monarchy). Each action uses one of your charges, which are periodically recharged.
Random events occur which increase or decrease public support democracy and/or the monarchy, victory being by having democracy max out and failure being when monarchy maxes out. Time your charges to prevent loss and to push the revolution to victory!
"Dynamic" villagers gather by castle when democracy movement is strong, disperse when it is weak, king hides when monarchy is weak and is in public when monarchy is strong.
Feel free to leave feedback, a few known bugs but I am shipping it lol.
